Mik Zazon in Puerto Rico with Coco Reef Swim

December 13, 2019

At the beginning of the summer, we traveled to Puerto Rico with Mik Zazon. Mik Zazon is a passionate creator, writer, speaker and business owner who lives to help women feel more at home in their bodies. We were thrilled to bring Mik along on our photoshoot to wear our new collection of bra-sized swimsuits and teach women to feel comfortable and confident during swimsuit season. Her passion for body positivity and female empowerment is what we love about this beautiful woman, and it was only natural for us to celebrate the obvious synergies between Mik and Coco Reef, and have her share the Coco Reef message with women all over the world. Shop the new collection, available online now

The difference between me & a model wearing the same bathing suit and same size?? I’m not even going to lie, this really tested my confidence. Put your hands up if you’ve bought a swimsuit subconsciously thinking that SOMEHOW the swimsuit was going to look the same as it did on the girl modeling it. 🙋🏼‍♀️🙅🏼‍♀️ The amount of times I have felt so much shame in my body because this has happened…. the number does not exist lol. I just want to let you know that your beauty relies on you being different. It’s normal to have bumps, marks, and skin that others don’t. ALL bodies are good bodies. So the next time your mind is telling you otherwise, speak back to it and say, “I am not going to expect anything of my body other than showing up as I am”. That right there is healthier than saying “no” to the food you’ve wanted to eat in order to be skinnier or to look different. #mentalhealthawareness #normalizenormalbodies #bodypositive #bodypositivity #bikini #bikinigirl

For the longest time i hated wearing swimsuits because I could never look like models or even my friends. Going in and out of stores and trying on bikinis watching my stomach bulge over the fabric and my heart sinking. I’m so thankful for @cocoreefswim for creating swimwear that allows me to show up as I am, and confident as ever. (For my bigger chested ladies.. every bathing suit is by bra size!!! 🙌🏼) If you want a chance to win your choice of swimwear from this amazing company, head on over to their latest post and enter! How to enter: Go to the post and tag a friend, give them a compliment (hype her up!!) and make sure you are following @cocoreefswim !! #flauntyourshape #cocoreefswim #bodypositive

Flaunt Your Shape in Coco Reef Swim: Meet Our Muse, Emily Gellis

May 3, 2019
Emily Gellis, NYC Influencer, Coco Reef Swim, Flaunt Your Shape, LYCRA Brand

When I was first approached to work on this campaign with Coco Reef Swim and LYCRA® brand I was so excited for a multitude of reasons! First and foremost because I believe body positivity is so important in today’s society.  Being that I am a full-time influencer I spend a tremendous amount of time on social platforms such as Instagram, and it is very difficult not to compare yourself to others.  It is easy to slip into the pattern of thinking, “I should be skinnier”, “I should travel more”, “I should be married already with kids”, so on and so forth. I always try and remind my friends who are not full-time influencers that what they are seeing on social media is often the best of the best. Everyone does not look and feel their best 365 days of the year, that would be outright crazy! So it’s important to remember to love yourself, and love the skin you’re in, to understand that everyone has their own path and their own journey and that wherever you are is where you are meant to be.

There are ways to help yourself feel more confident in the skin you’re in, and that is what is so exciting about working on this campaign. As a former buyer and stylist, I have spent a lot of time over the years testing and feeling fabrics. I can attest to the fact that there are ways to dress that can enhance the features you love about yourself.  When you feel comfortable in your skin and comfortable in what you wear, you automatically feel more confident. I was even shocked on the day we arrived to shoot this campaign at how wonderful the fabric with LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fiber feels on your body.

Coco Reef Swimwear was established with the mission to enhance, support, and sculpt a woman’s figure in bra-sized swimwear that flatters curves and inspires confidence.  Coco Reef Swimwear has established itself as a fit-focused and fashionable bra sized swimwear brand.

As a curvy girl, finding swimsuits used to be laughable. I cannot tell you how many times I ordered a bathing suit online that covered half a boob, and not even 1/3 of my bum! Every time I would look in the mirror and kind of giggle, “who fits into these?” I thought! Honestly, they were so small on me, that I could only laugh. After I was done giggling, I was like “Now what? I still need a swimsuit and I’m stuck with nada!”

Alas, Coco Reef Swim and LYCRA® brand TO THE RESCUE! Every single piece I wore during this shoot provided comfortable coverage that both looked and felt amazing. They weren’t too tight, they fit just right with room to breathe. We were even dancing on set and everything stayed where it was supposed to! ? Coco Reef swimwear is designed with LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fiber which ensures a great fit, all season long. LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fiber resists fit loss and fiber breakage caused by UV, pool water, chlorine, and sunscreen, giving you long-lasting shape, style and fit that resists bag and sag.

I am really proud to have worked on this campaign with such an amazing group of girls and I am so happy that companies like Coco Reef Swim and LYCRA® are pushing forward to include girls of all shapes, sizes, and colors in their campaigns. Most important is to be kind and to love yourself! Make sure you check out more from Coco Reef Swim and LYCRA® XTRA LIFE™ fiber Flaunt Your Shape campaign here! Happy Friday Babes!

xoxo,

Emily Gellis

I can’t remember the last time I wore a 2 piece. Just the thought of it alone freaked me out until I went along on this Self Love journey that has me feeling completely different about myself and about my body. I used to go to the public pool with the kids, with a one piece on- a pair of shorts over it, AND a dress on top flowy enough to not show any lady lumps ?. Meanwhile I doubt anyone at the pool could care less about what i had on or that I had stretch-marks. ??‍♀️. Life is too short to feel paralyzed with fear because of how our bodies look. It’s ridiculous. This is me, in my 2 piece, my DDD boobs, my cellulite and my stretch-marks. and I don’t feel anything but beautiful. FINALLY. I wish every woman I know could get to this place of Self Love! It feels amazing. (Swimsuit is from @cocoreefswim and you can use my code PROSA20 for a discount! #cocoreefswim

It’s always important to remember that “body goals” should simply be a healthy body that makes YOU happy and confident! For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been very conscious of the way that my body looked. I often felt too big, or too small…just simply never enough. It’s this weird mindset that we often get stuck in that we think once we lose some weight or gain some abs, suddenly all our problems will disappear, or we’d somehow become happier. Let me tell you from experience, having a “perfect” body didn’t bring me any special happiness that I didn’t already have inside of me but thinking that I was somehow flawed definitely brought me a ton of unnecessary suffering. Don’t ever compare yourself to someone else. Your physical, mental, and spiritual journeys aren’t meant to be the same. You are uniquely made for a purpose. So, today I hope you take some time to love your body, ensure you’re on a healthy path in taking care of it, and truly embrace your unique self for who you are. Leave me a comment below and tell me one thing you love about your physical self ♥️✨ #sponsored Swimsuit: @cocoreefswim (code SRUTHI20) ?: @prannamusic • • • • • #bodypositivity #wellnessfromwithin #selfiesforselflove #everybodyisbeautiful #bodyacceptance #mindfulness #summerfashion #summerstyle #cocoreefswim #fashiondiaries #styleblogger #thesruthistandard
